sigh… it’s over :(

i was so anxious for the finale earlier that i literally had butterflies in my stomach while i was waiting to watch.  i almost missed out, due to the absolutely horrid weather we had here this evening – but luckily, some astute pirate had a copy online and ready for download when i figured out that my DVR had only caught about 5 minutes in between the weather reports!

the last couple episodes have been SOOOOO anti-climactic.  i mean…. the prom one was a disaster, i was like, “so… that’s it?  it’s… over?”  and tonight wasn’t MUCH better, except i am pretty happy that Finn and Rachel are FINALLY back together.  not that i like them as a couple (OKAY, i like them better than Finn and Quinn, but still…) i just think that being in a relationship makes Rachel a little bit more tolerable because it gives her something to do. :D

but anyway.  now that it’s all over, i have gathered my thoughts about my favorite “moments” from this season.  and i guess by “moments” i actually mean “songs” because, well, the music is the best part of the show!  there were a few acting moments (i.e., Brittany, and when Quinn punched Rachel in the face at the prom) that were pretty outstanding.  i’m glad that they got rid of John Stamos – i think it was pretty cheesy having him on there… and i’m really irritated that they brought the Jesse St. James character back (literally – threw my crochet on the ground and started ranting like a fool as soon as he showed up in the doorway of the auditorium on “Rolling in the Deep”, even though i like that “moment”).  enough of my blubbering though – here’s what i absolutely loved from this season!!!

#10 – The Christmas Episode

Island of Misfit Toys?!?  the songs from “The Grinch”?!?  i think they summed up my entire childhood in Christmas music with this episode and did a darn good job of it – not to mention the backstory, with Brittany believing in Santa & Artie getting “robo legs”… speaking of… what the heck happened to Coach Beiste?  haven’t seen her around in a while!  i hope they bring her back next season!

#9 – Don’t You Want Me Baby (Rachel & Blaine)

this is such a cute duet!  i can totally picture me & Ryan doing this!!!! :D (sadly, i couldn’t find an actual video of this scene…)

#8 – Me Against the Music (Brittany & Santana)

there is only really one word for this …. i’ll leave that to the imagination.  i was superexcited about the Britney/Brittany episode – i’m an old school Britney fan :)

#7 – Barbra Streisand Flash Mob

OMG.  how. fun. was. this ?!?! i SERIOUSLY want to be part of a flash mob sometime!!!

#6 – Baby (Sam)

no, i’m not a Bieber fan.  i actually like this version of “Baby” better than Justin Bieber’s version, if that says anything for Justin Bieber.  ugh.  Sam, however, now… he’s a little cutie :)  he’s one of my faves – even though he kinda fell out of the spotlight there toward the end.

#5 – Rolling in the Deep (Rachel & Jesse St. James)

this was the first time i’d heard this song – and fell in love with it INSTANTLY.  i can’t decide if i like the Glee version or the ADELE version better, though… great song.  still just disgusted with the whole Jesse St. James situation though. :(

#4 – Marry You / Just the Way You Are (Glee Cast / Finn)

awwww :)    this was sooo cute!  the wedding scene is amazing, and i literally cried when Finn sang to Kurt!

#3 – The Rocky Horror Glee Show

they couldn’t have done a better job with Rocky Horror.  fo’ real.  i was mega-impressed.

#2 – Lucky (Quinn & Sam)

yes, i strongly dislike Quinn.  BUT… i absolutely melted when they sang this song!  this is me & my bestest little buddy Ryan’s song… we always sing it together in his car!!!!  i LOVE this song, and i am really glad they picked it up for Glee!

#1 – Thriller / Heads Will Roll (Glee Cast)

no, seriously, how awesome was this?!?!?  i was really impressed with everything about this – the dancing, the vocals, the costumes… i totally wanted to be out there dancing with them!  this song has become one of my absolute fave mashups!

my top ten!  but to be honest, i love this show so much that it’s really hard to pick just ten that i liked!  does anyone agree or disagree?  what are YOUR favorite moments from this season?

so, now what?  wait all summer for the start of Season 3!  rewatch seasons 1 & 2 repeatedly until then and let the excitement build!  i’m really curious to see what they are going to do – next season will be the Glee Club’s senior year, so… i’m interested to see if they are going to try to continue the show (and how) or if they plan on killing it once the kids graduate.  if that happens i will be kinda sad, but i’m not really sure that spin-off or bringing new Glee Club members on is the right thing to do either… the dynamic between the cast is so phenomenal, it’s really what makes the show fun to watch (besides the music!)  well, until then… i’ll just keep gettin’ my Gleek on  :D

Top 10 Glee Moments – Season 2

Travis wanted to do something “special” for his friend Doug @ work for his birthday – ie, since everyone in the office has been raving over the Angry Birds… maybe… i could just, you know, make Doug a pig or something since Travis didn’t really know what else to get him.

so i was like, fine, i guess so.

well, i decided that it couldn’t just be ANY old pig, since it was a birthday gift, i figured it needed to be a birthday pig.  and since Doug’s favorite team is Texas Tech, then it should probably have a little red/white/black party hat.  AND since it was a birthday pig and not just ANY old party pig, i also sent him off with a little tiny pig-sized slice of birthday cake

he looks pretty smug, doesn’t he?  sitting there with his little piece of cake.  at least he didn’t try to build any makeshift structures out of my couch pillows like the last guy.  i think he was distracted by the cake :D

and who wouldn’t be???  i mean, just look at it.  i would eat a cake that looked like that.  Travis would too – he thought it looked like a very delicious piece of tiny cake.  and apparently both he and Doug were happy with the result.  Happy Birthday, Doug!  enjoy the pig – just don’t eat the cake – i’m not sure how that would work out for ya ;)

the pig pattern was made by Karla Fitch, who, i’m sad to say was forced by one party or another to cease and desist selling her Angry Birds patterns, which i thought was kind of unfair but could have been prevented with changes in wording.  i wish they would just change the copyright laws already, they are extinct and restrict people’s creativity and also the ability for the creator of the copyrighted material to gain a broader audience… but who am i, just a disgruntled Gen-Y internet pirate junkie who also happens to be an artist of sorts… i wouldn’t know the first thing about making money off anything i’ve ever created because i never CHARGE money for anything i’ve created.  but, i digress.

the tiny cake slice was made by Trish Young, and you can find the directions for her free, original tiny cake slice pattern on her blog.

in the words of LeVar Burton, see ya next time.

my good friend Amber is expecting a little girl, and i wanted to make her something special… i have had my eyes on this pattern for a while and i was really excited to make this!

the “Seija Set” from the book, Stitch N’ Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker

i made it true to the original pattern’s colors because Amber wanted pink and brown.  the blanket has a little hole in it for the seatbelt buckle on a carseat or stroller to fit through!  and the matching hat is just adorable :)

my braids on the blanket turned out a little longer than they were supposed to – but i’m actually kind of happy with that – it kinda goes with the hanging braids on the hat!  i’m planning on making at least two more of these in different colors – one for my little man, and one for my new nephew, who is coming in August!

i love the big flower trend right now!  this headband was so simple to make, it took me less than an hour and it’s so cute!  also cost a lot less than anything i could buy at the store!  i only used MAYBE 1/12 of a ball of yarn.  it was supposed to be 3-layered, but i stopped after two because it looked good enough for me!  i really love this pattern, i will definitely be making more of these to coordinate with my wardrobe :)

i finally finished up the last of the birdies!  i had been taking an Angry Birds hiatus to finish up a few projects i had been working on for gifts  but i couldn’t take it anymore and i finally decided that i needed to get this last guy done so Travis’ collection would be complete!  i’m thinking i might still do a few random pieces, a few more pigs (with accessories – moustache/crown/hairbow/pumpkin, etc.) and maybe a slingshot.  but for now their crew is complete and they are proudly displayed on Travis’ desk!  people apparently really like them, and i’ve had several requests to make them for others – one guy even suggested i have them outsourced and mass produced!  lol!  here is Mr. White Bird, in all his glory:

of course, Fat Kitty obliged for the demo photo shoot, here are some shots of the “patented egg-drop action!”  LOL.

note how he is completely unphased by this.  he didn’t even move!!!  lazy!!!!!!!

i am very grateful to Karla Fitch for her amazing patterns – i really like how every one of these turned out, and Karla is a master of the yarn!  as soon as i get Travis to take a group photo for me i will post it as well – i can’t wait to see how they all look together!  i’m very excited about how they all turned out :D

thanks for stopping by!

so i’m kinda behind on posting some of the stuff i’ve been working on lately!  i need to catch up!!!

i had this frame laying around forever, it has a bracket that slides through two holes at the bottom that holds the glass in place and also serves as the stand for the frame.  it was originally natural wood colored, but since all of my other photo frames are black i decided to paint it.  i took these pictures of my stepdaughter, Courtney, a few weeks ago – she loves butterflies and has developed an innate skill for catching them and getting them to sit on her finger!  i thought it would be really cool to do something with these feather butterflies i had sitting around that i picked up at Hobby Lobby… this is what i ended up with:

i am really pleased with the way this turned out – i only had an 8×6″ canvas to work with so it was really tough deciding how to place things and make them fit in the space, but in the end i think it really looks nice!  i even painted the frame with black glitter to give it a little extra sparkle, but you can’t really tell that from the pic.  it is now proudly on display on our mantle! :)

thanks for stopping by – more crafty updates to come ;)

this game has been obsessed over and re-obsessed over at our house, ever since it came to the Apple store last year.  i think Brodyn has beaten it at least twice, to my knowledge, and Travis went back and got all the achievements or… something.  i don’t know.  i gave up somewhere around the point where like 50,000 zombies were flooding onto the screen and i still couldn’t keep up.  yeah, i kinda suck at defense games.

but, when i saw this little guy on Ravelry, i had to make him.

originally intended for Brodyn, Travis instead snatched it up and took it to work where it is nestled happily among all the Angry Birds.  maybe a more appropriate home for him, but he was so simple and took less than two evenings so i wouldn’t have a problem making another one if need be!

the pattern was made by Erika Devine, and can be found on her blog, for free. :D  really awesome of her to make it available for free!!  thanks Erika!
