okay, so i had to do the Pig next – Red and Yellow were starting to get ANGRY that they didn’t have any enemies to fling themselves at in Travis’ office!!  LOL!!  so without further ado, the Angry Green Egg-Stealing Pig:

upon completion, he immediately went to work using couch pillows to build a fort to protect himself… darn pigs that build structures!!!! oooh they make me so mad sometimes!!!  Fat Kitty was quite disturbed by the situation:

…but the two became quick friends (once Pig realized that Fat Kitty might prove to be more-than-ample protection against certain birds!)

hahahah!  once again, i have to thank the-one-and-only Karla Fitch for her fabulous work on this pattern, which can be found here, for $2:

my little(st) cousin, Alli, is turns 12 today!!!!  and she got her first cell phone!!! (and immediately started texting anyone and everyone she had a number for)  LOL :)

she’s so cute and sweet, though, i love her a ton!  i decided a few days ago to make her a Birthday card – i know it will make her day!!!

i really hope she jumps up and down in place and screams when she opens this!  (as teenage girls are prone to do, WHY IS THAT?!)  i am pretty happy with the way it turned out, although i am kind of sad that the Hambly transparency i used was a waste in a sense, since you can’t really see it after i added all the junk to the front of the card!  oh well!  i know she’s going to love it anyway!!!  it’s in the mail on its way to Ohio, so i’m sure i will get the THANKYOU!!!!!! OMG!!!!! (: (: (: text really soon!!! LOL :D

MATERIALS:

  • Cardstock – Colorbok
  • Patterned Paper – American Crafts “Teen”, DCWV “Rockstar” stack
  • Transparency – Hambly
  • Silver Holographic Star paper (inside) – Pat Catan’s
  • Brad – Queen & Co.
  • Balloon Sticker – EK Success
  • Pop Foam Squares
  • White DMC Floss
  • Silver / Dk. Pink Gelly Roll pens

my friend Sarah is expecting a little girl in a few months, and i wanted to make something special for her; i had several crocheted afghans that were made for me as a baby/child and i treasured them more than any blankets i had – they lasted forever and they were always so warm and pretty!!  i looked around for a simple but pretty pattern to make, and decided to settle on the One-Ball Baby Blanket by Katherine Eng on ravelry.

it works up really fast and has a pretty, unique pattern to the stitches – only two basic stitches here, so not much to think about while you’re working!  there was a bit more of an elaborate border in the original pattern, but i could only go around once since i ran out of time to finish it.  i still think it turned out beautifully!  Sarah really liked it and said, “this is one of those blankets you like, never use” but i hope that she does because afghans are definitely meant to be used and loved :)

the pattern is also available, for free, on Coats and Clark’s website.

Game of Thrones – Iron Throne

oh man.  that gets me pretty excited.

i read the four *actually published* books in the series almost 4 years ago… actually, i’ve almost read them all twice now.  i say *actually published* because the author, George R. R. Martin, has taken his sweet time finishing the fifth book… :|   it’s a rather sore subject for me and i’m sure countless other fans as well, because we were literally left HANGING in several places… but i digress…

Game of Thrones is a new series starting on HBO on Sunday, April 17th at 9:00PM.  i’m excited.  so far, the previews look awesome and they seem to have stuck pretty close to the actual book.  which is unusual but i can’t see Martin letting them do it without staying close to the story.  he’s been heavily involved in the production process (and football, and book signings, and… well, anything but finishing the fifth book in the series, but again, I DIGRESS…) ;-(

if fantasy fiction/medieval times/swords and kings and castles are your thing, you will definitely find this series worth watching.  and the books are DEFINITELY worth reading.  especially once the fifth book comes out, and maybe the series even gets finished in my lifetime.  DIGRESS!  DIGRESS!  just watch the show when it comes out, and enjoy!  i am certain it will at least prove to be a distraction while waiting….

for real, though, i can’t wait until April 17th!  it really looks amazing!

*** NOTE *** okay before i look like a fool… i just read on Mr. Martin’s “Not a Blog” that the official release date for book #5, “A Dance With Dragons”, is slated and in stone for July 12, 2011.  can we say, “FI-NA-LLY” (pronounced, “it’s about freaking time”).  i guess i should have done my research before i got all heated, but it’s really been a long time.
