Worst. $2.99. I’ve. Spent. In. A. While.

No seriously. If I only wanted to be able to play 3 different kinds of yahtzee then I’d have just bought yahtzee. I seriously don’t need “rainbow yahtzee” or “battle yahtzee”…. Just plain ol’ yahtzee would have been fine with me.

This game tricks you into thinking you’re going to play some yahtzee adventure through a board or some kind of career mode, but really you play a game or two a piece with about 7 AI characters, get like 4-5 special “trophies” from the yahtzee sensei, then you are welcome to play one of the three types of yahtzee or revisit one of your previous matches. Bo. Ring.

So in “Rainbow” yahtzee, the dice are colored and there are several bonus score sections based on the dice colors, like color yahtzee (all dice of same color) and color full house (2:3 dice of two different colors).  All I can really say about that is that gameplay is a little longer and you can get a little bigger scores, but overall not really worth it – especially if you’re a diehard yahtzee player – you won’t remember to think about dice colors !

“Battle” yahtzee really annoyed me. I lost the first few games cuz I didn’t really understand the concept and the “help” section failed to define the rules and gameplay clearly enough either. Basically you start with a hundred points and with rolls of the dice you can either use your score to take points from other players or add to your own. The “last player standing” after everyone else reaches zero is the winner. I’m not going to get anymore technical than that about it – these matches were really a waste of time in the overall scheme of things because again, it’s not yahtzee.

I’d give this game 2/5 stars because it wasn’t worth the $2.99 I paid for it (on sale, I believe) and I would have liked a little more adventure mode/career style gameplay, and less boring battles. Definitely opt for something cheaper and less distracting from the original yahtzee principles if you’re looking for a good yahtzee app.

heh.

because i have an amazing (sneaky) honey that loves me very much !

i’m so happy now i have a camera on my phone and OMG is this phone awesome!!!  so fast and smooth!  also, the most painless user experience i’ve had with iPhone / its software TO DATE.  took me less than an hour to get it all set up and going, minus the fact that i only copied over about 2GB of music instead of the original 7GB that was on my other phone.  AND… because i’m awesome and i love my friends… my best friend Shannon is going to get my old phone because she needs one too.   :)

hooray for iPhone 4!!

= my favorite quote from the new Alice in Wonderland movie…

i’ve been kinda planning this journal page for a while, then lost the copy of “Alice in Wonderland” that i was going to cut up and use… fortunately i found it (on the bookshelf?) while i was packing up the other night and decided, eh what the heck.  might as well crank out another one while i still have access to all my stuff.  of course, my craft area is the LAST thing i’m packing up.

so i did this, i don’t really know how i feel about it, i mean, i LIKE it but… i think it needs something else, and i really thought i had more stuff to make this work good, the only thing i didn’t end up adding was a Heidi Swapp clock rub-on that i ran out of room for …. wish there’d been a place… anyway:

i’m thinking some of these journal pages would make amazing canvases for decoration!  but i really love working in the journal, it lets me use up my crap and not necessarily have to use pictures which i like, but still be creative and use topics that reflect my life and my likes.  well… back to packing!

SUPPLIES:

  • “Alice in Wonderland” book pages and art

OMG.  new favorite song !!!!

“Jar of Hearts”
by Christina Perri

this chick is A.MA.ZING.  23-year old waitress from L.A., goes to iTunes top 15 OVERNIGHT after this song gets played on “So You Think You Can Dance?”   it is currently #6 on iTunes, having sold over 100,000 copies in less than a few weeks, and last week she got to perform it LIVE on the show.  pretty freakin’ badass for someone who has been waiting tables for a living and busting her butt to get her voice heard.  it’s a sign of the times but you really have to appreciate the fact that 20 years ago there’s no WAY these people would ever even have a chance, but thanks to the Internet and YouTube, anyone can be a star.

lately, i’ve been perusing a few different DIY crafting sites; partially because we are about to move into a new house (and i’m always looking for new ideas!) and partially because my BFF Shannon has also been undertaking some crafty furniture upcycle projects that inspired me to look around and see what’s out there.

today, i came across a really awesome site – Dollar Store Crafts.  they have TONS of project ideas – tutorials and links – for those who craft on the cheap, or want high-end items for cheap DIY prices.  their site is divided into a lot of great categories, for those of any budget.  let me tell you, people come up with some of the best stuff!  i found a lot of great (and definitely cheap!) ideas while browsing, and also came across a link that led me out to this site: The CSI Project.  they had a Dollar Store Challenge a little while back, and invited people to show off their best Dollar Store craft projects.  there were so many great ideas, i decided to pick my top favorites and share a few.  it’s hard to believe the things people can make out of some spray paint, glue, and junk from the Dollar Store!

1.  $5 Home Office Art (from Let’s Make it Ours) - it’s hard to believe how simple and cheap this idea was – also something you can get your smallest child to help out with, with amazing results!

2.  Dollar Store Tiled Mirror (from Tattered and Inked) – it’s hard to believe she found those ceramic tiles at the Dollar Store – so cool!

3.  Framed Pedestal Prints (from Nikki’s Nifty Knacks) – all i can say is WOW.  this idea is so versatile, and again hard to believe the candlesticks and frames were simple Dollar Store finds!

4.  Restoration Hardware Take Two (from Nikki’s Nifty Knacks) – another major WOW.  Nikki has great taste.  i love these awesome wall hanging knockoffs!!

5.  $1 Contemporary Art Piece (from mad in crafts) – HOLY COW THOSE ARE PAINT CHIPS.  yeah, that’s cool and FREE.  i like her quote about paint chips, too, i know the feeling exactly:  “Do you feel as guilty taking paint chips as I do?  I know they are free for the taking, but I always feel like I am shoplifting when I take any.  It was especially bad this time because I needed a lot of them!  I picked them out, glanced around a few times and then shoved them in my purse.  Who, me, suspicious?”

6.  Mother’s Day Shadow Box (from nine to midnight designs) – isn’t this cute?  lucky for me i have a wire bending kit and the wire to do it!  i haven’t played with that in a while, but this project definitely inspires me – that wire word is the cutest accent for this project!

7.  Pottery Barn Mirror Knockoff (from Cottage Love) – this is gorgeous, a really nice complement to any decor, a very versatile design that could be done in so many different ways!  again, hard to believe the mirrors came from the dollar store!

8.  Kitchen Art (from Crap I’ve Made) – pretty neat, i like the retro effect, and i think it makes some pretty awesome, unique kitchen decor!

9.  “Dollar-kea” Mirror II (from TheAnswerIsChocolate) – i like!!  looks very much like something you could buy at Hobby Lobby and another great, versatile idea!  you could decorate this with anything!

there were so many other projects that were great ideas, and that i liked, but this rounds out my “top 9″ finds.  for more great on-the-cheap craft ideas and inspiration, visit CSI Project’s “Dollar Store Challenge” or any of these other great crafting blogs:
